摘要: Abstract Objective Continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) is used for the management of sleep-disordered breathing in patients with multiple system atrophy (MSA). However, long-term outcome after CPAP treatment yet to be ascertained. Methods A retrospective study was performed investigate frequency and causes discontinuation, ascertain determinations duration Japanese diagnosed probable MSA based upon consensus diagnostic criteria, who were admitted our hospital from 2001 2012. Results Twenty-nine consecutive treated analyzed. During observation period, 19 (66%) discontinued treatment. The median 13.0 months (range, 1–53 months). major discontinuation pulmonary infection, respiratory insufficiency undetermined origin, intolerance. On comparing clinical characteristics groups subjected short- treatment, floppy epiglottis more frequently observed short-term group than (64% vs 15%; P  = 0.015). Conclusion not long, may a determinant
