摘要: Summary Obesity is associated with both structural and functional changes of the central nervous system. While gray matter alterations in obesity point to a consistent reduction increasing body mass index (BMI), volumetric white are more complex less conclusive. Hence, recently, diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) has been employed as highly sensitive tool investigate microstructural structure. Parameters diffusivity anisotropy used evaluate fibre integrity well axonal myelin degeneration. Fractional (FA) most commonly parameter it best estimate integrity. The focus this review was on relationship between brain assessed by DTI. Altogether, these studies have shown loss obesity-related factors, especially tracts within limbic system those connecting temporal frontal lobe. More specifically, multiple found an inverse association BMI FA corpus callosum, fornix, cingulum corona radiata elderly young adults children. Furthermore, significant interactions were observed age, pointing accelerated ageing structure obese.
