Voice-Based Quizzes for Measuring Knowledge Retention in Under-Connected Populations

摘要: Information dissemination using automated phone calls allows reaching low-literate and tech-naive populations. Open challenges include rapid verification of expected knowledge gaps in the community, specific information to address these gaps, follow-up measurement retention. We report Sawaal, a voice-based telephone service that uses audio-quizzes challenges. Sawaal its open community users post attempt multiple-choice questions vote comment on them. spreads virally as challenge friends quiz competitions. Administrator-posted allow confirming spreading correct measuring retention via rephrased, repeated questions. In 14 weeks with no advertisement, reached 3,433 (120,119 calls) Pakistan, who contributed 13,276 were attempted 455,158 times by 2,027 users. Knowledge remained significant for up two weeks. Surveys revealed 71% mostly low-literate, young, male blind.
