摘要: Background: UK Foodbanks have unmasked widespread food poverty. Lack of a cold chain means cannot provide fresh fruit and vegetables (F&V). Foodbank client’s experiences their ability to store prepare foods were explored. Methods: Qualitative interviews with 18 Foodbank clients investigated what brought them the service, how they coped insecurity, its impact on choice, and cook produce. Transcripts analysed thematically. Findings: Clients grateful for service, though some felt ashamed. Strategies cope lack of included skipping meals or not using heating. School holidays difficult for families without benefit free school meals. Those who housed had greater refrigerate fresh than those homeless. F&V deemed important, but an unaffordable luxury. Discussion: valued nutritional safety-net inclusion F&V provision would be welcomed. Assisting winter fuel bills meal outside the day may alleviate poverty in this group.
