摘要: The leafhopper Euscelis incisus contains two morphologically-distinct symbiotic microorganisms, a-symbionts and t-symbionts, in a pair of discrete organs, the mycetomes. Pure preparations of t-symbionts were obtained by lysis of insect cells with 0.05% digitonin, followed by density-gradient centrifugation, but the a-symbionts could not be isolated. Symbiont-free E. incisus were obtained by ligation of newly deposited eggs. The embryos developed normally to hatching, but the larvae did not grow and died in 2 weeks. The …
