Integrating gender diverse and interdisciplinary professionals into traditional U.S. Department of Agriculture‐Forest Service Culture

摘要: Abstract In compliance with environmental legislation and affirmative action policies of the 1970s, a generation interdisciplinary gender diverse professionals have been hired by U.S. Department Agriculture‐Forest Service. Two studies examine first wave these new employees (half whom were women), finding most committed to their profession, involved mentors, integrating into agency culture. When career development difficulties did occur, they usually associated type profession rather than gender. Wildlife fisheries biologists, Forest Service, had more difficulty accepting becoming forester or range manager colleagues. There several important differences, women satisfied about current status future Service prospects.
