Changes in per capita CO2 emissions of six large Japanese cities between 1980 and 2000: An analysis using “The Four System Boundaries” approach

摘要: Abstract Cities can play a critical role in mitigating climate change. Although several carbon accounting methods have been proposed to identify mitigation responsibility of cities, there is still no single common and widely accepted method. In this study, we adopted method that based on four system boundaries compare per capita CO2 emissions six large Japanese cities 1980 2000. Despite the fact substantial differences exist among these terms industrial structure transformation, population, local climatic conditions, found for boundary 4, which attribution city from consumption perspectives, are very similar them stable over 20-year study period, although those all other not similar. This contrast general claims made by authorities regarding their success reducing emissions.
