摘要: Metabolomics has been found to be applicable a wide range of clinical studies, bringing new era for improving diagnostics, early disease detection, therapy prediction and treatment efficiency monitoring. A major challenge in metabolomics, particularly untargeted is the extremely diverse complex nature biological specimens. Despite great advances field there still exist fundamental needs considering pre-analytical variability that can introduce bias subsequent analytical process decrease reliability results moreover confound final research outcomes. Many researchers are mainly focused on instrumental aspects biomarker discovery process, sample related variables sometimes seem overlooked. To bridge gap, critical information standardized protocols regarding experimental design handling pre-processing highly desired. Characterization variation among collection methods necessary prevent misinterpretation ensure observed differences not due an caused by inconsistencies processing. Herein, systematic discussion affecting metabolomics studies based blood derived samples performed. Furthermore, we provide set recommendations concerning design, collection, procedures storage conditions as practical review guide serve standardization reduction undesirable variation.
