Family conferences in palliative care: A survey of health care providers in France

摘要: Abstract Context Family conferences are conducted to assist with end-of-life discussions and discharge planning. Objectives This study describes the current practices of family in palliative care units (PCUs) France. Methods A cross-sectional descriptive survey was sent each PCU France ( n  = 113). Members interdisciplinary health team (palliative physician, nurse, psychologist, social worker) who were active at time asked respond. Results Two hundred seventy-six 452 responses (61%) obtained from members 91 (81%). seventy-two 276 providers (HCPs) (99%) reported conducting their clinical practice. Only 13 participants (5%) that they followed a structured protocol. Most respondents completed questionnaire: physicians  = 225; 82%), nurses  = 219; 79%), psychologists  = 181; 66%). The three primary goals allow express feelings  = 240; 87%), identify caregivers  = 233; 84%), discuss patient's plan 79%). reasons for conference were: illness terminal  = 216; 78%), requested  = 208; 75%), or sedation required  = 189; 69%). One six HCPs (38%) patients not invited participate. indications significantly different among four disciplines. Conclusion our conferences. However, most had no protocol, half preferred patient participation, significant variation noted
