Physician-delivered advice to quit smoking among Italian smokers.

摘要: Objective A clinical practice guideline for smoking cessation was released in Italy 2002, but to date little is known about the implementation of these recommendations among primary care physicians. The objectives this study were estimate prevalence receiving physician-delivered advice quit and determine what factors related receipt adult Italian smokers. Methods data collected as part 2004–2006 tobacco surveys (analyzed 2007), conducted by DOXA, branch Gallup International Association, representative population aged ≥18 years. Each year smokers asked whether they had received from their family physician during previous year. Demographic, socioeconomic, tobacco-related, physician-related variables examined association with advice. logistic regression model then fit which smoking. Results Overall, 22% reported Less likely receive who: single (compared divorced, widowed, or separated); lived South; a higher level education; lighter smokers; no attempts; physicians who smoked. Conclusions suggest that are not advising at high rate. Future research should focus on methods encourage counsel patient–provider encounter.
