Public health ethics and more-than-human solidarity

摘要: This article contributes to the literature on One Health and public health ethics by expanding principle of solidarity. We conceptualise solidarity encompass not only practices intended assist other people, but also non-human others, including animals, plants, or places. To illustrate how manifestations humanist more-than-human may selectively complement one another, collide, recent responses Hendra virus in Australia Rabies Canada serve as case examples. Given that caring relationships are foundational promotion, people's efforts care for others highly relevant health, even when these conflict with edicts issued name health. In its most optimistic explication, aims attain optimal humans, animals their shared environments. As a field, needs move beyond an exclusive preoccupation so account moral complexity arising from diverse connections places, animals.
