Human rights, cultural practices, and state policies: Implications for global social work practice and policy

摘要: Effective practice in a global world requires knowledge and understanding of diverse cultures. Most social workers around the are committed to values policies that enhance well-being especially vulnerable populations protect their human rights. However, not all cultural practices or place same value on rights protection populations, situation may result conflicts for workers, who have an ethical obligation advocate as well be sensitive clients' contexts. Based multidisciplinary research contemporary examples gender discrimination, forced marriages, child labor, female genital mutilation, this article proposes resolutions conflict. It concludes by suggesting might help strike effective balance between diversity promotion rights. Key Practitioner Message: ● Social best placed understand individuals communities within various contexts; work policy should undermine populations; Guided professional ethics, can assume roles educator enhancing individuals.
