The Organizational Nature of Agricultural Cooperatives: A Perspective from the Farm Problem Theory

摘要: This article uses the farm problem theory as framework for a comparative analysis of cooperative, market and hierarchical organization in agrifood system. In order to carry out this analysis, proposes organizational economics approach which supplements traditional approaches explaining it terms low opportunity costs high mobility factors employed agriculture. According proposed approach, is outcome inappropriateness effective coordination agricultural activities. The central argument that cooperatives are important because they partially perform functions not effectively delivered agriculture by conventional types economic organization.
