School enrolment of first‐ and second‐generation immigrant students in Italy: A geographical analysis

摘要: This paper analyses non-compulsory secondary school enrolment of immigrant students in Italy. Such implies a voluntary decision and can influence future career paths the labour market. The results show that rates immigrants are lower than those Italians. Immigrant prefer vocational schools shorter-term education. pattern these preferences remains constant across throughout Italy, even if Italy presents strong differences economic development its regions, with rich Northern poor Southern regions. second-generation differ from first-generation students, but size this component is still too small to indicate clear trend. Resumen Este trabajo analiza la matricula no obligatoria en escuelas de educacion secundaria los alumnos inmigrantes Italia. Dicha implica una voluntaria que puede influir las futuras trayectorias carreras del mercado laboral. Los resultados muestran tasas matriculacion son mas bajas italianos. estudiantes prefieren formacion profesional y corto plazo. El patron estas preferencias permanece constante toda Italia, pesar Italia presenta fuertes diferencias el desarrollo economico sus regiones, con regiones ricas norte pobres sur. Las segunda generacion difieren primera generacion, pero tamano este componente es todavia demasiado pequeno como para indicar tendencia clara.
