摘要: The clinical challenges confronting patients with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) have shifted from acquired syndrome (AIDS)-related illnesses to chronic diseases, such as coronary artery disease, lung and anemia. With the growing burden of HIV-related heart, lung, blood (HLB) National Heart, Lung, Blood Institute (NHLBI) recognizes it must stimulate support HLB research. Because HIV offers a natural, accelerated model common pathological processes, inflammation, research may yield important breakthroughs for all disease. This paper summarizes cardiovascular recommendations an NHLBI Working Group, Advancing HIV/AIDS Research in Diseases, charged identifying scientific priorities disease developing promote multidisciplinary collaboration among investigators. working group included sessions, well breakout sessions discussion disease-specific issues, themes about strategies emerging 3 groups.
