摘要: The southernmost glacier in Europe formed during the Little Ice Age at foot of north wall Picacho del Veleta (3 398 m) Sierra Nevada, southeast region Iberian Peninsula (Iat. 37°03'N, long. 3°22'W). gradually retreated last century, leaving a large talus slope base wall. unconsolidated material covering ice masses acted as thermal insulator. Recent bottom temperature snow (BTS) analyses and drillings indicate that still exists within talus. Evidence from field observations made period 1995-2001, revealed mass movements occurred driest summers (1998) especially, 1999 2000) when was free. These conditions suggest direct relationship between stability insulation cover areas where buried or decaying marginal permafrost exists.
