The analysis focuses regional patterns decline in late Soviet period through 1994, investigates functional characteristics towns cities are experiencing or even disappearing altogether. Complementing earlier work subject by author, present research extends to include all officially designated places Russia. 4 figures, 3 tables, 59 references.
