摘要: The field of Soviet geography has undergone tremendous change as a result the significant social, economic and political changes post-1985 era. Accordingly, subject two distinct periods. Geographic research about Union before perestroyka or mid-1980s generally focused on amassing information analyzing spatial patterns related to natural environment, demographic activity. Because secrecy regarding this information, by geographers fulfilled policy-maker demand for detailed geographic analysis. post-Soviet period continued previous traditions added many new themes such social consequences transition. In ways, thematically theoretically, Russian during appears more integrated into overall than was geography. Research themes, methods, theoretical approaches mirror explicitly discipline in general.
