摘要: Abstract Background Left ventricular hypertrophy is an important predictor of cardiovascular risk and its detection contributes to stratification. However, echocardiography not a routine procedure electrocardiography (ECG) underestimates prevalence. Objective To evaluate the prevalence echocardiographic left in low medium non-treated hypertensive subjects, order find out percentage them who would be reclassified as high patients. Methods Cross-sectional, multicenter study was performed hospital located hypertension units. An echocardiogram 197 previously untreated patients, > 18 years, classified having (61%) or (39%) risk, according OMS/ISH classification. The presence considered if mass index ≥ 134 110 gr/m2 men women, respectively (Devereux criteria). A logistic regression analysis identify factors associated hypertrophy. Results 23.9% (95% CI:17.9–29.9), 25.6% 22.6% women. In group 20.7% 29.5%. Factors were: years since diagnosis hypertension, OR:1.1 CI:1.003–1.227); systolic blood pressure, OR:1.08 CI:1.029–1.138); diastolic OR:0.9 CI:0.882–0.991); family history disease, OR:4.3 CI:1.52–12.18). Conclusions These findings underline importance performing patients which treatment otherwise delayed for even one year.
