摘要: There is a large body of evidence that the electrocardiogram (ECG) insensitive in recognition left ventricular hypertrophy (LVH), comparison with echocardiogram; however, its specificity high. In this study we further analyzed performance ECG detecting LVH 200 consecutive patients (124 men and 76 women, mean age 50.9 years) mild to moderate essential hypertension, using echocardiographically determined mass (LVM) as standard for comparison. To test hypothesis that, owing high number true positive findings, may still be useful clinical purposes by selecting subsets hypertensives higher degrees LVH, compared values LVM index corresponding either (true positive) or negative (false negative) electrocardiographic signs LVH. 69 (34.5%) had echocardiographic defined exceeding 125 g/m2 112 women. Almost all criteria demonstrated levels (> = 89%). whole group Lewis ((RI - RIII)+(SIII SI) > 17 mm) showed slight superiority diagnosing (sensitivity 43%) remaining criteria; confidence intervals estimate sensitivities confirmed such diagnostic only respect those sensitivity 95%) did not show significant differences (P < .05).(ABSTRACT TRUNCATED AT 250 WORDS)
