摘要: The outbreak and transmission of disease-causing pathogens are contributing to the unprecedented rate biodiversity decline. Recent advances in genomics have coalesced into powerful tools monitor, detect, reconstruct role impacting wildlife populations. Wildlife researchers thus uniquely positioned merge ecological evolutionary studies with genomic technologies exploit "Big Data" disease research; however, many lack training expertise required use these computationally intensive methodologies. To address this disparity, inaugural "Genomics Disease Wildlife" workshop assembled early mid-career professionals across scientific disciplines (e.g., genomics, biology, veterinary sciences, conservation management) for application research. A horizon scanning-like exercise, an activity identify forthcoming trends challenges, performed by participants identified discussed 5 themes considered be most pressing research: 1) "Improving communication," 2) "Methodological analytical advancements," 3) "Translation practice," 4) "Integrating landscape ecology genomics," 5) "Emerging new questions." Wide-ranging solutions from scan were international scope, itemized both deficiencies strengths initiatives, promoted unite human research, advocated best practices optimal projects. results offer a glimpse potential revolution research possible through multi-disciplinary collaborations at local, regional, global scales.
