摘要: We describe a multipurpose scanning tunneling microscope designed to operate in ultrahigh vacuum as well air, over range extending from room temperature liquid‐nitrogen temperatures. It is single‐tube scanner design with differential flexing approach mechanism mounted on vibration isolation stack. The instrument features novel situ tip and sample exchange for extended operation under vacuum. A unique characteristic that the chamber all components exception of gas‐cooled holder are at temperature. present preliminary data taken this instrument, demonstrating atomic resolution constant current, height, multiple‐bias imaging, gap‐modulated current‐voltage spectroscopy or simultaneous topography, work function measurements, lithography surfaces graphite, Au(111) mica, GaAs(110).
