摘要: Upsetting of cylinders is a standard test which determines the ability material to be forged either in cold or warm worked condition without cracking. In present work, cylindrical specimens aluminum–4% copper–2% magnesium alloy are upset between flat platens study metal flow at room temperature. Lubrication interface die/work piece and specimen aspect ratio (H0/D0) studied as process parameters. minimized barreling lateral free surface. Microstructural studies reveal non-uniform deformation within specimen. This effect pronounced with high friction low ratio. Machine Vision system using PC-based video recording CCD camera used pre-drawn square grid equatorial plane The measure axial circumferential strain components during deformation. Finite element analysis upsetting carried out both dry lubricated conditions ratios 1.0 1.5. Rigid-flexible contact performed for forming process. When stress values obtained from finite compared measurement grids it found that they close proximity.
