The duration of clinical placements: a key influence on nursing students’ experience of belongingness

摘要: Objective: This paper reports selected findings from a study that investigated nursing students' experience of belongingness. The manner in which this is influenced by the duration clinical placements focus discussion. Design: A mixed method, multi-site case approach using an anonymous online survey: Belongingness Scale Clinical Placement Experience was completed 362 students, 18 whom also participated semi-structured interviews. Setting: setting for two Australian universities and one university United Kingdom offering undergraduate programs. Subjects: Third year students (n=362) were recruited into study. Main outcome measure: Nurses belongingness influence placement on Results: Students' self-concept, degree self-efficacy, confidence, resilience, willingness to question or conform poor practice, career decisions, capacity motivation learn all impacted extent they experienced Differences scores between three sites statistically significant, with participants scoring higher than those either sites, F(2, 355) = 21.70, p <.001, np2 0.11.
