Peak-locking error reduction by birefringent optical diffusers

摘要: The use of optical diffusers for the reduction peak-locking errors in particle image velocimetry is investigated. working principle based on concept birefringence, where incoming rays are subject to different deflections depending light direction and polarization. performances assessed via wind tunnel measurements uniform flow wall-bounded turbulence. Comparison with best-practice defocusing also conducted. It found that yield an increase diameter up 10m sensor plane. reference showed a both random systematic by factor 3, even at low imaging signal-to-noise ratio.
