摘要: Calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP) has recently been demonstrated in sensory neurons of the eye. The purpose present study was to determine effects exogenous CGRP rabbit and cat injected intracamerally intraocular pressure measured cannulated eyes. pupil diameter aqueous humor protein concentration were also measured. Indomethacin used prevent prostaglandin synthesis tetrodotoxin (TTX) block nerve conductance. In eye, caused iridial hyperemia, a breakdown blood-aqueous barrier increased pressure. These responses dose-related. increase IOP as well could not be blocked with TTX or indomethacin. cats decrease had only slight effect on concentration. Neither rabbits nor any detectable size. Intracameral injection 0.1 microgram (7.4 x 10(-11) moles) substance P together (2.6 maximal miosis but did potentiate only. results indicate that marked vascular causing IOP. mechanism this phenomenon does involve prostaglandins neither conduction, implying most likely direct smooth muscle. remains unknown.
