摘要: A major catabolic route for glycine in liver is its conversion to methylene tetra-hydrofolate (methylene THF), CO2 and NH3, catalysed by the cleavage system described Yoshida Kikuchi (1970). In view of role as a putative neuro-transmitter, occurrence this mammalian brain was investigated. Our studies demonstrated: (a) that production 14CO2 from [1-14C]glycine required presence tetrahydrofolate, NAD, dithiothreitol pyridoxal phosphate reaction mixture; (b) besides CO2l-serine other product reaction; (c) glyoxylate did not function an intermediate (d) enzymatic activity appeared be associated with membranes. All these properties resembled those previously hepatic system.
