摘要: Abstract A patient is described in whom the postpericardiotomy syndrome developed secondary to a gunshot wound chest with retained missile close proximity pericardium. Steroid therapy produced prompt and sustained clinical remission. The literature reviewed, it suggested that foreign bodies or near pericardium are still another precipitating cause of syndrome. Possible etiologic mechanisms, role corticosteroids therapy, indications for surgery discussed.
