Sol-gel based hybrid silane coatings for enhanced corrosion protection of copper in aqueous sodium chloride

摘要: Abstract In this study, various concentrations of p-aminothiophenol doped 3-glycidoxypropyltrimethoxysilane based sol-gel matrices (PATP-GPTMS) are prepared through hydrolysis and condensation reactions. The PATP-GPTMS is applied on the polished copper (Cu) surface (PATP-GPTMS/Cu) by self-assembly technique. profile resultant coatings characterized important analytical tools such as Fourier transform infra-red (FT-IR) spectroscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) stylus profilometer. morphologies acquired scanning electron microscopy (SEM) with energy dispersive (EDX) atomic force (AFM) techniques. FT-IR XPS results revealed linking PATP thiol monolayer Cu in 0.1 M PATP-GPTMS/Cu coating. Further, corrosion protection ability 3.5% sodium chloride (NaCl) medium studied common electrochemical tools. impedance (EIS) showed that coating exhibit improved resistance than undoped GPTMS/Cu maximum inhibition efficiency 96.39% achieved 12 h technique polarization method. All exposed that, enhanced aqueous NaCl medium.
