摘要: Protection of aluminum metal and its alloys from corrosion is a key requirement for many engineering applications. Nowadays, sol–gel coating technology recognized as the ideal replacement chromate conversion coatings. The present work makes use 3-glycidoxypropyltrimethoxysilane (GPTMS) precursor coating. GPTMS was subjected to hydrolysis subsequent condensation reaction get three-dimensional network methylthiourea (MTU) incorporated into matrix. MTU-doped GPTMS-based coatings were applied over by dip method. resultant studied FTIR, XRD SEM. increased hydrophobic nature stable up temperature 450°C. protective evaluated in 1% NaCl environment using electrochemical impedance polarization studies. study has revealed that doping MTU enhanced protection ability doped significant extent.
