Improved corrosion resistance by forming multilayers over a copper surface by electrodeposition followed by a novel sol–gel coating method

摘要: Facile nickel coating on a copper surface was successfully fabricated via an electrodeposition method from ammonium sulfate and then modification done by subsequent immersion into the sol–gel mixture of 3-aminopropyltriethoxysilane (APTES), tetraethoxysilane (TEOS) lauric acid (LA). The morphology, chemical composition wettability were characterized means scanning electron microscopy (SEM), atomic force (AFM), Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy water contact angle (WCA) measurements. It found that Cu–Ni–Hy–LA multilayered coated hydrophobic with 107.3°. corrosion resistance these coatings evaluated electrochemical impedance studies (EIS) potentiodynamic polarization (PP) measurements in 3.5% NaCl medium. showed enhanced compared to Cu–Ni Cu–Ni–Hy surface. improved is mainly due formation densely packed over electrodeposited
