摘要: A new selective medium, sulphite-polymixin-milk (SPM) agar, for the isolation of clostridia from faeces is described. This medium contains whole cow's milk, which favours growth over that ofBacteroides andBifidobacterium spp., and only small amounts colistin (10μg/ml) suppressing coliforms. The alkaline end-products give rise to yellow colonies on a red background are easy distinguish other not completely inhibited bacteria. suitable many species. Comparisons were made between SPM several media recovery clostridia. detection limit agar was more than 103 below Reinforced Clostridia Agar (Oxoid CM101).
