摘要: Summary: Purpose: We evaluated retrospectively the socio-economic development of epilepsy patients after temporal or extratemporal surgery and analyzed relationship to clinical neuropsychological data. Methods: 151 (from ages 11–65 years; mean postoperative followup: 3 years) replied a structured questionnaire, which referred objective data patient's educational vocational development. Neuropsychological were obtained from pre- (1–year follow-up) examinations. Results: The preoperative indicated that exposed at any delopmental stage had higher prevalence educational/vocational difficulties as compared with later onset epilespy. Postopera-tively, integration formerly unemployed improved unemployment rate decreased 33 16%. Out those who been schooled employed, 79%-91% made progress in development, least able keep their status. Only 2 14 patients, retired early because epilepsy, returned employment. In general, deterioration socioeconomic status was significantly related insufficient seizure control. A reemploy-ment depended mainly on age outcome. Conclusions: Our results suggest successful surgical intervention improves maintains situation, especially employment
