摘要: Psychosocial impact of epilepsy surgery on children and adolescents Epileptic who cannot reach a satisfactory control their seizures by pharmacological treatment may benefit from neurosurgery. Surgical provides an alternative that often results in total freedom or, at least, remarkable reduction frequency. However, the psychosocial consequences have not been systematically reviewed so far. The present article gives overview over studies investigated adjustment families after surgery. Indicators are: satisfaction with outcome operation, behavioral adjustment, integration school, health-related quality life. Even though most report positive effects surgery, important questions remain unsolved. Future should focus identifying predominant areas life improved seizures, risks protecting factors influence coping less successful operations only little or no improvement regarding seizures.
