Software-assisted post-interventional assessment of radiofrequency ablation

摘要: Radiofrequency ablation (RFA) is becoming a standard procedure for minimally invasive tumor treatment in clinical practice. Due to its common technical procedure, low complication rate, and cost, RFA has become an alternative surgical resection the liver. To evaluate therapy success of RFA, thorough follow-up imaging essential. Conventionally, shape, size, position coagulation are visually compared side-by-side manner using pre- post-interventional images. objectify verification success, novel software assistant allowing fast accurate comparison proposed. In this work, value proposed assessment evaluated. retrospective study, 39 cases hepatic evaluated prototype conventional image by four radiologists with different levels experience. The randomized two sessions avoid any recall-bias. Self-confidence correct diagnosis (local recurrence vs. no local recurrence) on six-point scale given each case radiologists. Sensitivity, specificity, positive negative predictive values as well receiver operating curves calculated both methods. It shown that software-assisted method allows physicians correctly identify higher percentage than (sensitivity: 0.6 0.35), whereas identified successful ablations slightly reduced (specificity: 0.83 0.89).
