摘要: Twenty patients undergoing elective procedures on the larynx and pharynx were anaesthetised using a propofol infusion bolus of vecuronium. High frequency jet ventilation was employed via 7 French gauge catheter, with second catheter being used to measure expired carbon dioxide levels. The Bullard laryngoscope compared Macintosh instrument both for visualising subsequently inserting catheter. One left in place until patient fully awake, one case this enabled gas exchange be maintained presence laryngospasm. Using laryngoscope, intubation possible all 20 patients, mean time 22 (6.8) s. only 16 could intubated took significantly longer at 34 (18.3) s (p < 0.05). high offer reliable method intubating anaesthetising upper airways pathology further benefits may accrue recovery period.
