摘要: We examined the potential for epidemiological studies of mental disorders, specifically posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), to cause further harm participants involved. Of 1,000 randomly selected Australian Vietnam veterans, 641 agreed participate in an survey. Participants were asked about distress experienced during interview when traumatic events raised. Significant attributed was reported by 75.3% those with current PTSD, 56.5% past and 20.6% no PTSD diagnosis. Distress did not affect participants' use medical services following nor it their willingness continue participating study. concluded that research interviews may short-term distress, but found evidence long-term harm.
