摘要: This research paper presents an experimental study into the effect of introducing long, narrow interlaminar galleries on tensile and compressive properties aerospace carbon/epoxy laminates. Galleries are thin long holes used for installation small measuring devices, such as structural health monitoring (SHM) sensors. The considered in this similar to those a novel SHM system known comparative vacuum (CVM), developed damage detection aircraft structures. effects shape, size orientation open-hole in-plane laminate were experimentally determined. modulus strength decrease with increasing gallery diameter (above critical size) due ply waviness around galleries, reduced load-bearing area, fibre volume content caused by swelling. mechanical generally higher when aligned longitudinal (0°) direction applied load compared transverse (90°) direction. is because percentage plies distorted An analytical model presented calculating elastic laminates containing galleries. A simplified also determining models data can be design composite structures sensor cavities monitoring.
