摘要: In this paper we study the power consumption of networked devices in a large Campus network, focusing mainly on PC usage. We first define methodology to monitor host state, which then apply our network. Results show that typically people refrain from turning off their during non-working hours so more than 1500 PCs are always powered on, causing energy waste. design PoliSave, simple web-based architecture allows users schedule state PCs, avoiding frustration wasting long power-down and bootstrap times today PCs. By exploiting already available technologies like Wake-On-Lan, Hibernation Web services, PoliSave reduces average uptime 15.9h 9.7h working days, generating an saving 0.6kW/h per day, or 250,000 Euros year considering University.
