Assessing temporal trends and industry contributions to air and water pollution using stochastic dominance

摘要: We employ a stochastic dominance (SD) approach to analyze the components that contribute environmental degradation over time. The variables are considered include countries’ greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and water pollution. Our is based on pair-wise SD tests. First, we study dynamic progress of each separate variable time, from 1990 2005, within 5-year horizons. Then, SD tests used major industry contributors overall GHG emissions pollution at any given uncover which contributes most total pollution. We find CO2 not only but also increased within 15 year in first-order sense. On other hand, increased second-order SD sense. Pair-wise comparisons suggest emissions have always been electricity heat production sectors, while transport sector has second contributor between 2005.
