摘要: OBJECTIVE A cross-sectional laboratory study to determine the in vitro sensitivity and resistance of organisms culture isolates from skin infections mechanisms action monolaurin, a coconut lauric acid derivative, compared with 6 common antibiotics: penicillin, oxacillin, fusidic acid, mupirocin, erythromycin, vancomycin. METHODS Skin samples were taken newborn 18-year-old pediatric patients primary secondarily infected dermatoses. Samples collected identified following standard guidelines, then sent for testing against selected antibiotics monolaurin. RESULTS Sensitivity rates Gram-positive Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus spp., coagulase-negative Staphylococcus, Gram-negative E. vulneris, Enterobacter Enterococcus spp. 20 mg/ml monolaurin was 100% Klebsiella rhinoscleromatis 92.31%. Escherichia coli had progressively less dense colony growths at increasing concentrations, than control. did not exhibit any statistically significant (P <.05) differences these antibiotics. CONCLUSIONS Monolaurin has broad-spectrum bacterial superficial infections. Most bacteria it. needs further pharmacokinetic studies better understand its novel action, toxicity, drug interactions, proper dosing order proceed vivo clinical studies.
