摘要: BACKGROUND Atopic dermatitis (AD) skin is dry and readily colonized by Staphylococcus aureus (SA). Coconut olive oils are traditionally used to moisturize treat infections. OBJECTIVE To compare virgin coconut oil (VCO) (VOO) in moisturizing dryness removing SA from AD skin. METHODS This was a double-blind controlled trial two outpatient dermatology clinics with adult patients who were diagnosed history, pattern, evolution, lesions randomized apply VCO or VOO twice daily at noninfected sites. cultures, photography, objective-SCORAD severity index (O-SSI) scoring done baseline after 4 weeks. RESULTS Twenty-six subjects each received VOO. Of those on VCO, 20 positive for colonies versus 12 Post intervention, only 1 (5%) subject remained 6 (50%) of Relative risk 0.10, significantly superior that (10:1, p = .0028; 95% CI, 0.01-0.73); thus, the number needed 2.2. For O-SSI, difference not significant (p .15) but different post treatment .004); this reduced both < .005) greater VCO. CONCLUSION monolaurin's O-SSI reduction vitro broad-spectrum activity against (given clinical validity here), fungi, viruses may be useful proactive colonization.
