摘要: A high quality reference genome sequence is a prerequisite resource for accessing any gene, driving genomics-based approaches to systems biology, and efficient exploitation of natural induced genetic diversity an organism. Wheat barley possess genomes size that was long presumed be not amenable whole sequencing. So far, only limited genomic sequencing selected loci has been performed, providing preliminary information about the organization Triticeae genomes. Driven by breakthrough technology improvements, poised become realistic undertaking. This chapter provides overview history plant sequencing, summarizes status efforts, describes next generation technologies, offers outlook on future wheat based these technologies.
