摘要: Background Klebsiella pneumoniae is the major cause of liver abscesses in several Asian countries. Differences type circulating strains and/or genetic make up host seem to be plausible explanations for this. Methods Two recent K. isolated from patients with abscess, one Missouri US, and a second Singapore, were fully characterized by molecular typing, association virulent genes, neutrophil phagocytosis, susceptibility serum killing, lethality mice. Results Both had mucoid colony morphology similar multilocus sequence (ST-163), drug-susceptibility profile, resistance phagocytosis killing. Although ST-163 single nucleotide variant (SNV) ST-23, which specific serotype K1 that causes abscess Taiwan, these two isolates differ capsular serotype. One was other K29. Since K35 ST163 reported previously peritonitis, K29 SNV ST-23 not impossible. Pulsed field gel electrophoresis XbaI digestion showed different restriction patterns. The virulence-associated genes rmpA aerobactin only present isolate Singapore Missouri. also more Conclusion reasons underlying high prevalence or its pueumonaie worth further investigation.
