摘要: Experiments were conducted to determine the relationship of selenium-dependent glutathione peroxidase (SeGSHpx) activity onset nutritional pancreatic atrophy (NPA) in chicks. Chicks produced from hens fed a low Se, vitamin E practical diet had activities SeGSHpx plasma and pancreas at hatching. The remained level before during all stages NPA. Selenium supplementation prevented NPA resulted significant elevations activity. Although early are believed involve mitochondrial swelling, no differences found rate oxygen uptake, respiratory control index or adenosine diphosphate ratio between mitochondria isolated Se-deficient Se-adequate Improvements maternal Se status significantly increased chick hatching delayed chicks diet. A proportion second-generation Se- E-depleted used these studies was grow nearly normal rates when These chicks, designated as refractory growth-depressing effect severe Se-deficiency, biochemically deficient (i.e., very activities) showed It is concluded that Se-responsive lesion which results different depressed growth.
