摘要: The relationship of the testis to peritoneal cavity, and hence its position as an intraperitoneal or extraperitoneal organ, remains controversial. Adult anatomy texts favour during after testicular descent, whereas journal articles position. Interestingly, there is no similar debate around ovary despite common origin each indifferent gonads. Through direct observation literature review, we aimed determine whether should be considered organ. anatomical embryological relevant human animal models was reviewed. Direct dissections were made in rats (n=8) foetal development, postnatally, mature animals, allowing comparison foetus with adult male female. also recorded various pathological states. dissection reveals on a mesorchium both postnatal life. Intraperitoneal testes are demonstrated humans cases gastroschisis (where may protrude through periumbilical defect bowel), torsion mobile within peritoneum), bell clapper identifiable intraperitoneal). We conclude that In rat intraperitoneal. but appear extraperitoneal. apparent discrepancy between being likely result from differences relative size tunica vaginalis infant boys elderly men.
