摘要: Hippocampal memory formation is highly regulated by post-translational histone modifications and DNA methylation. Accordingly, these epigenetic processes play a major role in the effects of modulatory factors, such as sex steroid hormones, on hippocampal memory. Our laboratory recently demonstrated that ability potent estrogen 17β-estradiol (E2) to enhance hippocampal-dependent novel object recognition ovariectomized female mice requires ERK-dependent H3 acetylation methylation dorsal hippocampus. Although data provide valuable insight into chromatin mediate memory-enhancing E2, regulation gene expression enormously complex. Therefore, more research needed fully understand how E2 other hormones employ alterations shape behavior. This review discusses shown thus far regulate memory, briefly reviews function, describes detail our work estrogenic enhancement.
