摘要: Dry or fully imbibed seeds of western white pine (Pinus monticola Dougl. ex D. Don) were studied using high-resolution magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Analyses the dry seed revealed many gross anatomical features structure. Furthermore, non-invasive nature MRI allowed for a study dynamics water and oil distribution during in situ imbibition single with time-lapse chemical shift selective MRI. During soaking seed, penetrated through coat megagametophyte. The cotyledons embryo (located chalazal end seed) first to show hydration followed by hypocotyl later radicle. After penetrating coat, micropylar likely also contributed further embryo; however, micropyle itself did not appear be site entry into seed. A model that describes kinetics earlier stages is proposed. Non-viable captured displayed atypical distinguished their rapid uncontrolled uptake. potential MR microimaging detailed studies uptake soaking, moist chilling (“stratification”), germination conifer discussed.
