Full-Duplex RSOA-Based PONs Using 4-PAM With Pre-Equalization

摘要: We investigate the use of 4-pulsed amplitude modulation (PAM) in reflective semiconductor optical amplifier (RSOA)-based PON implementations. The performance low-bandwidth RSOAs can be significantly upgraded using 4-PAM together with pre-equalization. demonstrate external up to 8 Gb/s a RSOA 3-dB bandwidth 1.2-GHz and 10-km transmission at bit-error-rate below forward-error-correction (FEC) limit. In full-duplex transmission, symmetric 4 is experimentally demonstrated downstream signal strong DC offset for data cancelation upstream remodulation.
