摘要: Abstract There is a long-recognized association between obsessive–compulsive disorder (OCD) and chronic epilepsy, most notably refractory temporal lobe epilepsy (TLE). The literature documents this with case reports, patient series, some larger controlled studies that reveal almost quarter of patients TLE exhibit OCD features, which may go unrecognized. Obsession features ordering, symmetry, exactness, handwashing, religiosity occur more often in persons right- or left-sided epileptic foci than those idiopathic generalized epilepsies controls. Neurobiological social factors suggest abnormalities the frontal–thalamic–pallidal–striatal–anterior cingulate–frontal circuits stemming from observation certain diseases, damage, surgery along these produce or, conversely, reduce TLE. This review explores on retrospective looks at associations OCD. Contemporary speculation theoretical neurobiological underpinnings provides basis how where to direct treatment. Invasive deep brain stimulation has triggered recent controversy newer treatment modalities.
